Once the itineraries are decided and first flights, hotels and visas are booked and paid for, you feel that you are ready to depart and the only left to do is to pack and go (easier said than done!).
We decided right from the start that we would use backpacks instead of a carry-on or checked luggage for this world tour as we are going to move a lot around the different countries.
I had mine since my trip to Uzbekistan but my wife had to buy hers and she decided to go with the brand Osprey. After a lot of research and trying on different backpacks, Osprey seemed to be the one that offered the best back support and organization, even though it was on the more expensive side.

We also got compression packing cubes to reduce the volume of our clothes and organize the interior of the backpack.

It is going to be hard to be using the same clothes again and again for the next 6 months... Don't be surprised if we're wearing the same clothes on every photo!
We'll tell you more about the backpacks and the compression cubes towards the end of the trip, after we've used them for a longer period of time!
